Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #50

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM successes. Sadly we lost another great actor since my last post. Anton Yelchin who recently stared as Chekov in the new "Star Trek" films along with many other amazing films was killed in a freak vehicle accident at the age of 27. We have been fighting rain and the high water this week so ill get right on to this weeks successes. Monday brought a great reply from Maggie Peterson. She signed both pictures we sent her and it took just under a month to return. She played one of our favorite characters on The Andy Griffith Show. Tuesday brought probably one of the best TTM returns we have received when my book returned signed from legendary actor Kirk Douglas. Super cool success from an amazing actor. Winter helped me out writing a nice letter for this one and it took under two months to return. Unfortunately do to his age (he's almost 100) I was asked not to share this address but its out there if you put in a little work and I personally have only seen a few of his books come back signed TTM. Unfortunately due to the severe storm and Flooding here in Greenbrier County West Virginia I'm unable to check the mail Friday due to the water being in the post office. We're safe and live on high ground but sadly alot around here lived in a now flooded area. Entire streets and houses are all just gone. Roads and bridges destroyed and as of this posting 26 dead from what they are calling a rare 1000 year flood. I finally made it to the P.O. Saturday and had two returns. First both pictures returned signed from Jonathan Frakes. Only took about two months for the return and a great addition to our Trek collection. To finish off the day my Queen CD book returned signed from John Deacon. Super cool success and only took just over two months to return. Unfortunately they sent a letter saying we got lucky and not to share the address because it wont work. That's it for this week. Ill be back next week with more TTM autograph collecting goodness. Have a great and safe weekend.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #49

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM successes. Sadly we lost "Mr. Hockey" last week with the passing of hockey legend Gordie Howe at the age of 88. I'm sure by now most of you have seen the sad and unfortunate news about Christina Grimmie who was shot while doing an autograph signing after her concert. Such a sad situation and a great loss. Unfortunately something like this could also easily put off other performers from signing after shows. Also in the autograph world news. A man asking for an autograph for a girl that was with him from Justin Bieber put the smack down on the Biebster after Biebs told the man "No autographs tonight Mother ______er !" ( you can fill in the blanks lol). Now I'm no fan of Bieber but I don't think he deserved to be punched. I do think he went about his refusal to sign in a completely wrong manner. As an autograph collector I have always been polite and respectful in my IP attempts. If they are busy or in a personal situation I wait or pass up the opportunity all together. Most have been very nice and polite and worse case they just ignored us. I never get mad when I'm turned down chances are I can get them TTM or I can always try again another time. With just some simple common courtesy on all sides IP autograph collecting can be an amazing hobby and an experience you will never forget.  Sadly our wonderful hobby is popping up in the news more and more and with some celebs already on the fence about signing In Person and with all the others who have already stopped signing recently the future of In Person collecting and the way thing's have been done in the past is in Jeopardy. Luckily the TTM part of the hobby is thriving and there are always conventions for the IP collectors. Now on to this weeks TTM successes.  Monday brought three returns. First a great return from Carel Struycken. He signed both pictures we sent taking about four months to return. Next we received both pictures back signed from Jeffrey Jones. I love how he personalized the Howard the Duck one from The Dark Over Lord. I love that movie and only three months to come back. To finish off the day Winter received two pre signed pictures from Simon Pegg. She sent one picture of him as Scotty from the new Star Trek films and got two pre signed back still a very cool success from one of our favorite actors and only took two weeks to get them. Tuesday was an amazing mail day with two great returns. First after waiting six months Winter received her picture back signed from His Holiness The Dalai Lama. An amazing success, she wrote a nice long letter and tried and we really didn't expect this one to return. To finish off the day I received both pictures back signed from the lovely Sally Field. IV been a huge fan ever since "Smoky and the Bandit" and "Places in the Heart" is one of our favorite movies and it only took her four months to reply. Thursday brought an addition to our Walking Dead collection after we received a great reply from Jason Douglas who played Tobin on the show. He signed both pictures we sent plus he sent another signed photo plus a signed thank you note and only took two and a half months to return. To finish off this super amazing TTM week I received my booklet and DVD insert from "SleepAway Camp" back signed from John E. Dunn who played Kenny in the movie. The insert was signed on the back unfortunately so its kind of hard to see but my booklet looks great and is ready for more cast signatures. It took just under two months to return. That's it for this week. Get writing those letters and ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses. Have a great weekend and Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #48

-
Welcome back to another weekly TTM successes. Sadly with the death of Boxing legend Muhammad Ali I'm seeing an huge increase in fake Ali autographs for sell on EBay and other places. Unfortunately when a celeb passes away there are vultures out there who cash in on unsuspecting fans and newer collectors by flooding the market with Fake and expensive autographs. So just remember if your going to purchase an autograph from a recently passed celeb (or any autograph purchase) do you're research and don't be afraid to ask more experienced collectors for help. So last week we received a TTM return from Carrie Fisher. Since IV always heard that she doesn't sign TTM but uses a secretary to sign and some say her mother the legendary Debbie Reynolds signs her daughters TTM requests I decided to write a nice letter and try and see what we get back. We received all three items we sent back signed rather quickly and now iv had time to do some comparing to authentic Fisher exemplars here's what I think. After comparing to authentic Fishers mine did have some similarities but just look off especially the F in Fisher just looked to neat. Next I compared them to my Debbie Reynolds autographs and the Reynolds and the Fisher autographs have more in common. First the slant is the same for both and the ie in Debbie and Carrie are identical on mine and the handwriting flow looks to be the same and after talking to a few other collectors I think the Carrie Fisher TTM autographs are actually Debbie Reynolds signed Carrie Fisher autographs. So unfortunately not authentic Fishers but still very cool because of who actually signed them. This is just my opinion though and if anyone has another theory I'd love to hear it. Now on to the weekly TTM successes. Monday winter received a great success from all four of the Impractical Jokers. In just under two months they sent her a nice photo signed by them all. We love that show, such great and funny guys. To finish off the day I received both pictures I sent to Twisted Sister guitarist Eddie Ojeda back signed and he even wrote a thank you note on our letter and signed it to. Great return and only one month to come back. Wednesday brought a great addition to our American Horror Story Collection when we received our "Freak Show" DVD cover and picture back signed from Erika Ervin also known as Amazon Eve. She was one of Winters favorites that season and only took about a month and a half to return. Thursday brought a disappointing Pre Print return from Matthew McConaughey. Friday brought two more returns. First with a fast seven day wait we received both pictures back signed from Anthony Call. A great addition to our Trek original series collection. To finish off the day we received both pictures back signed from Charlotte Rae. I have all these nice old "Fact of Life" pictures and wanted to try for the cast and she's the first to reply. Very nice and only a month to return. That's it this week as always ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses. Next month on July 28th 2016 it will be the one year anniversary for my TTM blog. So keep an eye out on Twitter @cavewv because I'm doing an autograph giveaway that week for my followers. I will be posting more details later on here and on Twitter.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #47

-
Welcome back to another weekly TTM success post. Sadly we lost boxing legend Muhammad Ali yesterday he was 74. Im sure by now most of you have heard the news about Kiefer Sutherland no longer signing autographs In Person because of Street Dealers stalking him at his performance's so they can sell his autographs. Now he said he will still be signing at conventions and I'm still seeing Via Venue TTM returns coming back so he's still obtainable. So now Axl Rose has said in a Tweet that because of dealers selling his autographs on EBay he will no longer be signing autographs for awhile. Sadly it can just take one or two bad experiences for celebs to stop signing and once again a few bad dealers have ruined it for the rest of us. Don't get me wrong not every dealer is a bad guy some actually are very trustworthy autograph dealers and do things properly when getting items signed and selling them. I think greed has alot to do with it. If your going to every appearance with a stack of 10+ items to get signed just so you can sell them you may be part if the problem. I dont have a problem with someone trying to make a living but when it starts hurting the hobby we love I do have a problem. The celebs know what's going on. Sometimes they don't mind other times the real fans and collectors loose out because the celeb gets fed up and stops signing. Buying autographs of the Street Dealers can be a great way to pick up that autograph you just have to have. Some go and get a few nice pieces signed and sell them. The only thing i never liked about these is they are usually a rushed scribbled autograph and I wouldn't waist my money on a scribble. I also see alot of these dealers selling large numbers of items signed by hard to get signers. Sure maby they signed a couple items but your going to tell me that a movie star who rarely signs will just stop on the street to sign autographs on 15 items for an obvious dealer when they wont even sign one for real fans lol. I usually stay away from purchasing these autographs. Even though some offer exact video or photo proof of the signing. For me if there's an autograph I want and purchasing is the only option I buy only from very reputable dealer and almost always already authenticated by JSA or PSA. I don't buy autographs on Facebook. I wont even trade with other collectors on FB because of all the horror story's of people getting ripped off. If your going to spend that kind if money in the first place why not spend a little more for a guaranteed authentic signature. I see people all over the web buying these horrible looking or fake autographs and never ask any questions about how, when and where it was signed. I wouldn't make a major purchase without doing a little research or price comparison on other high end items before I buy them so why not do the same for autographs. Now on to the successes. No mail Monday because of Memorial Day so our week started Tuesday with four returns. First Winter received her picture back signed from astronaut Guion Bluford in just seven day's. Next I received an amazing VV success from Gal Gadot. We sent two pictures of her as Wonder Woman to the "Justice League" set in the UK and about a month later they returned signed. After that we received a nice Pre Signed picture from Freddie Highmore. We are loving "Bates Motel" and I'm super excited to get Norman and with a quick two week wait. To finish off the day we received all three things we sent to Carrie Fisher back signed. IV heard she does secretarial signatures TTM but I thought I'd try a super letter and see what comes back. I'm not sure on authenticity yet I haven't had time to compare to authentic examplars. You can judge for yourself until I can compare mine to others and decide on if you want to try her. Friday brought a super great return from Alan Thicke. In less than a month he signed the 8x10 and blank autograph card we sent plus he sent us another signed 8x10, a signed index card, and another signed 4x6. Such a nice guy he even paid the extra shipping and sent it with a tracking number. That's it for this week. Have a great graphing weekend and ill be back next week with more TTM autograph collecting goodness.
